We are looking for a talented and insightful designer with a passion for designing school textbooks. This is a great opportunity for enthusiastic professionals who take pleasure in contributing to the excellent reputation of the company. We work with all major textbook publishers to design and do the layout for educational books for all grade levels and subject areas. Qualifications required:
- expert knowledge of desktop publishing tools including QuarkXpress (4,6.5 and 7) and InDesign (CS, CS2)
- great portfolio with a very strong background in editorial work
- ability to work closely with clients to bring their ideas to life on the page with grace and accuracy
- experience directing illustrators and photo researchers
- experience in web/flash development is a desirable additional skill
- knowledge of InCopy, Woodwing, K4, Autopage, InMath, XMath, PowerMath or Framemaker is highly desirable
- experience working as a team under OS X in a server environment
- experience establishing style and method standards for creative products. Creating templates with multiple master pages and complex style sheets
- significant complex page-layout experience is required
- knowledge of InCopy, Photoshop and Illustrator are a definitive plus

The supervising editor position requires a senior editor with experience and background in English and Social Studies at the K-12 level. The position requires the ability to:
- plan and develop projects and programs
- develop positive working relationships with clients
- understand the pertinent pedagogical and market issues
- identify competitive products and trends in the marketplace
- demonstrate a strong understanding of the publishing process
The supervising editor plays a major role in the success of Victory Productions and as such is expected to focus attention on:
Marketing:
- assist with RFQ's and the bidding procedure
- attend relevant conferences
- assist the marketing and sales department in securing business
- develop editorial budgets
- develop innovative product plans for clients
Editorial Management:
- secure, understand, and recommend staffing decisions based upon project specs
- play a lead role in assembling editorial teams for projects
- act as a reference for editorial teams
- supervise development, clarification, and finalization of editorial guidelines and secure client's written approval of editorial guidelines
- coordinate planning with other departments
- assist in coordinating and securing freelancers
- be the client contact until appropriate to delegate the role to another team member
- develop and/or supervise production of schedules with a focus on editorial process
- be available as a reference to project team members and junior editors
- supervise staff and freelance editors; assure that procedures are in place for quality assurance to meet client needs (checklists for each stage of development); at regular intervals, review manuscript and procedures to give constructive feedback and guidance
- motivate, lead, mentor, and assist junior editors and project managers
- be involved as a senior editor with selected projects during 'dry run' and/or first pages
- Is up-to-date on the latest trends in education (specially in Language Arts and in Reading), and is able to develop creative solutions for our clients instructional needs
- Is familiar with emerging trends in web-based instruction and can direct teams to develop non-print solutions
- Is intimately familiar with State standards for K-12 learning and the textbook marketplace
- BA or equivalent experience

Looking for an editor who will be responsible for developing and editing manuscripts for K-12 books in reading, literature, grammar, writing, math, social studies, science and health in both Spanish and English. Will also be responsible for the layout and revisions of the written materials in preparation for publishing in print, on-line, video and/or other multimedia formats. must have a bachelors in arts, communication, editing or related field. Will accept foreign equivalence. Will be working 40 hours per week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Compensation will be $35,110.00 per year.
